Welcome to the Closter Children’s page!

The Closter Public Library Children’s Department promotes a lifelong love of reading and library use, which is supported with a wide range of current materials and programs for children from birth to grade four. Our library houses an up-to-date collection of picture books, fiction and non-fiction books, board books for babies and toddlers, popular children’s magazines, audio books, DVDs, graphic novels, and special collections of holiday books and easy readers for children and their families to borrow.

In addition, the Closter Public Library is a member of the Bergen County Cooperative Library System (BCCLS). As a member of BCCLS, Closter residents with valid library cards are able to request and borrow items from other libraries within BCCLS. Check out for more information. Children of all ages can register for their own card with proof of parent’s residency in Closter.

We also offer a variety of programs for children to attend, including weekly story-times, Baby Sign, Music Together, Read to Dogs, and craft days, as well as occasional special performances. Please contact Emily, the Youth Services Librarian at for more information about Children’s Programming.

There are three computers in the children’s area for children to use, and these computers are reserved for homework only between 3 pm and 5 pm. The Library does not monitor or control information accessed through the Internet, and cannot be responsible for its content.

The children’s room provides a safe space in the library for children. Please help us on your end by viewing our policies and rules.
